Terms of Service

By adding hambot to a Discord server, using its commands, or using the hambot.net website, you agree to these terms. If you are adding the bot to a server you administer, you accept these terms on behalf of that server.

Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines apply in addition to these terms. Nothing here overrides them.

hambot is a free, non-commercial Discord bot providing amateur radio tools: callsign lookups, DXCC prefix information, solar and propagation data, and spot alerts. There is no paid tier, no subscription, and nothing is sold.

You agree not to:

• Use the bot to harass, stalk, or gather information about individuals against their wishes.
• Automate, script, or otherwise flood the bot with requests, or attempt to circumvent its rate limits and alert throttling.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the bot, the website, the database, or the third-party services the bot relies on.
• Use the bot for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of amateur radio regulations in your jurisdiction.
• Resell, rebrand, or present the bot's output as a commercial service.

Access may be withdrawn from any user or server that abuses the service, at the operator's discretion and without notice.

hambot relays information from third-party sources including HamQTH, Callook, PSKReporter, DX cluster feeds, and NOAA propagation services. That data is provided by those services and is not verified, corrected, or guaranteed by hambot.

Callsign records, propagation forecasts, and spot reports may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong. Do not rely on hambot for emergency communications, regulatory compliance, contest adjudication, or any situation where inaccurate information could cause harm. Verify anything that matters against an authoritative source.

hambot is provided on a best-effort basis with no uptime guarantee. It may go offline, lose data, change behaviour, drop features, or be discontinued entirely at any time and without notice. Scheduled and unscheduled downtime should both be expected.

Spot alerts in particular are subject to throttling, rate limits, third-party API availability, and Discord delivery limits. A missed alert is not a malfunction, and no delivery is guaranteed.

You are responsible for the alerts you create and the callsigns you query. Handling of the limited data hambot stores is described in the Privacy Policy.

hambot and hambot.net are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of hambot is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, opportunity, or contacts, arising from your use of or inability to use the bot or the website.

This is a free hobby project provided at no charge. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

hambot's source code is published on GitHub under the GNU General Public License v3. These terms govern use of the hosted bot and website, not the source code, which is governed by the GPL.

These terms may change. The date at the top of this page will be updated when they do, and continued use of the bot after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
